The PSM Multicurrency for WooCommerce plugin includes an email notification feature. This feature keeps you informed about automatic exchange rate updates.

What This Feature Does

  • Sends an email notification to the site admin

  • Notifies about exchange rate updates

  • Works automatically on a scheduled interval

  • Helps you track currency changes easily

How Notifications Work

The plugin updates exchange rates using WordPress cron.
After each update, it sends an email notification to the admin.

You can fully control how often these emails are sent.

Set the Update Interval

To choose how often exchange rates are updated:

  1. Go to PSM Plugins > Multi Currency > Advanced

  2. Find Auto-update exchange rates

  3. Open Select interval

  4. Choose the desired time interval

  5. Click Submit the changes

The system will now send notifications based on this interval.

Edit the Email Template

You can customize the notification email.

To edit the email content:

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Emails

  2. Find [PSMWMC] Exchange Rate Notification

  3. Click Manage

  4. Edit the subject, heading, and message

  5. Save your changes

Important Notes

  • Emails are sent only when auto-update runs

  • Admin email is used as the recipient

  • You can change the template anytime

  • The feature works automatically once enabled

This section lets you configure advanced options for updating exchange rates and automatically detecting a customer’s currency based on their location.
1. Currency Exchange Rate APIs (Pro)
Choose an external API service to fetch and update currency exchange rates.
  • Selecting an API: Choose the API you want to use. Yahoo Finance is available in the free version. Other APIs available in the Pro version.
  • API Key Input: If the selected API requires an API key, a field will appear to enter it.
  • Info Link: Click the “click here” link next to the dropdown for detailed information about supported currencies and usage limits for the selected API.
 
2. Auto-Update Exchange Rates (Pro)
Automatically update exchange rates at regular intervals using the selected API.
Toggle:
  • Enabled: Automatically fetches the latest rates based on your set interval.
  • Disabled: You’ll need to update rates manually.

Update Interval:
Enter a number to define how often updates should occur. Use the Time Unit dropdown to choose the unit (e.g., Hours, Days).
3. Auto-Detect Currency by Country (Pro)
Automatically display the correct currency for a visitor based on their country (determined by IP address).
Toggle:
  • Enabled: The visitor’s currency is auto-selected based on their location.
  • Disabled: Customers will see the default currency until they manually change it.
How it Works:
  • The currency is auto-selected on the visitor’s first visit based on their IP.
  • Users can still manually switch currencies afterward.
  • If no countries are assigned to a currency, the system will automatically choose the most appropriate one.
  • If a match isn’t found, the store’s default currency will be used.
4. Use cache plugin
Enable this if you are using a caching plugin and the currency does not remain after being switched by customers in the frontend.
5. Currency and Country Mapping
Manually assign specific countries to each currency for more precise control.
  • Currency Column: Lists the currencies you’ve added (e.g., USD, EUR, INR).
  • Countries Column: Click the “Auto-Detect” dropdown for any currency to:
    • Keep it as Auto-Detect: The system will auto-match this currency to countries where appropriate.
    • Select specific countries: The selected currency will be applied to visitors from those countries.
    • If no country is selected, the system will rely on general detection logic.
6. Geo API
Choose which geolocation service will be used to detect a visitor’s country via their IP address.
Dropdown Selector: Click to view available Geo API services (e.g., IPinfo, ip-api, geoPlugin).
Select the desired service that best meets your accuracy and usage needs.

This section helps you set up and control how different currencies work in your WooCommerce store.

You can:

  • Add the currencies you want to use in your store

  • Choose how many decimal places to show (like 100.00 or 100)

  • Add the currency rate compared to your store’s main currency

  • Choose how to update the currency rate (manually or automatically)

  • Decide how prices should look (before or after the product price)

These settings help your store show prices correctly for customers in different countries.

Currency Manager Features and Options

  • Add New Currency
    Click on Add New Currency button and select the currency you want to add from the list. The selected currency will appear in the currency list.

  • Refresh Exchange Rates
    Click on the Refresh Exchange Rate Button to update all your currency exchange rates using your chosen rate provider. This keeps your prices accurate.

Currency Table Columns Explained

  • Currency
    Shows the list of added currencies. You can drag and drop to change the order. This order will also show on your website.

  • Preview
    Displays how the currency format will look to your customers using a sample amount like 1,234.56.

    You can also adjust:

    • Thousand Separator – Choose how to separate big numbers (like a comma or space).

    • Decimal Separator – Choose what symbol to show for decimal points (like a dot or comma).

    • Number of Decimals – Set how many digits appear after the decimal (e.g., 2 for 100.00).

    • Symbol Position – Decide whether the currency symbol comes before or after the number, and if it has a space.

  • Rate
    It will show the current exchange rate against your default currency.

  • Fee
    Add an extra amount to cover currency conversion charges or payment gateway fees.


Action: Extra Controls for Each Currency

  • Edit Currency
    Click on edit icon to open a side panel where you can change advanced settings for that currency.
    You can adjust things like:

    • How the currency looks (formatting)

    • How the prices are rounded

  • Delete Currency
    Click on trash to remove the currency from your list.

Currency Position

This decides where the currency symbol appears in the price.
  • Common: . (dot) or , (comma depending on the region)
Example:
Using . makes 125 and 50 cents appear as 125.50
Using , makes it appear as 125,50

Thousand Separator

This symbol separates the thousands to make big numbers easier to read.
  • Most common: , (comma)
  • Example: 1,000 or 10,000
Example: If you use , as a separator, 10000 becomes 10,000

Decimal Separator

This is the symbol used before the decimal part.
  • Common: . (dot) or , (comma depending on the region)
Example:
Using . makes 125 and 50 cents appear as 125.50
Using , makes it appear as 125,50

Decimal

Controls how many digits appear after the decimal point.
  • 0 → No decimal: 125
  • 2 → Two decimals: 125.00
  • 3 → Three decimals: 125.000
Example:
If decimal is set to 2, price will be shown as 49.99
If it’s 0, then just 49

Rate Mode

Controls how the exchange rate is updated for the currency.
  • Auto → Automatically fetches exchange rates from the selected API
  • Manual → You manually enter the exchange rate
Tip: Use Auto to save time and keep retes updated daily.

Fee

This lets you add an extra fee to the converted currency.
  • Use it to adjust for handling charges, currency spread, etc
Example: If converted amount is 100 and you add a $5 fee → final price is 105

Fee Mode

Controls how the fee is applied:
  • Fixed → A set number (e.g., $5) is added
  • Percentage → A % of the converted amount is added (e.g., 2% of $100 = $102)
Example: 
Converted price = $100
  • Fee = 5, Mode = Fixed → Final = $105
  • Fee = 5, Mode = Percentage → Final = $105 (5% of 100)

Rounding

Lets you round off prices to look cleaner or more consistent.
  • Disabled → No rounding
  • Up → Rounds up
  • Down → Rounds down
  • Nearest → Rounds to the closest number
Example:
(Rounding Up to 10)  → 182.46 becomes 190

Rounding To

Sets the unit to which price should be rounded.
  • 0.01 → Rounds to the nearest cent
  • 0.1 → Rounds to nearest 10 cents
  • 1 → Rounds to nearest whole number
  • 10 → Rounds to nearest 10
  • 100 → Rounds to nearest 100
Example:
Price = 182.46, Rounding To = 10 → Rounded price = 180 or 190 depending on direction

Rounding Minus

After rounding, you can deduct a small amount to make prices look smarter.
Example:
Rounded price = 190
Rounding minus = 0.01 → Final price = 189.99

Summary Example

Let’s say you configure:

  • Currency Position: Right with space
  • Thousand Separator: ,
  • Decimal Separator: .
  • Decimal: 2
  • Rate Mode: Auto
  • Fee: 5 (Fixed)
  • Rounding: Up
  • Rounding To: 10
  • Rounding Minus: 0.01
If converted price  = 182.46
→ Rounded up to 190
→ Apply Rounding Minus → 189.99
→ Add Fixed Fee 5→ Final Price = 194.99 $

Before you start using the PSM Multi-Currency plugin, please check a few simple things to make sure it works well on your website.

This plugin is made to be very easy to use. Even if your website is on a small server or a slow computer, it will still run smoothly.
It works with WooCommerce, so make sure you have that plugin installed first.


What you need to use this plugin:

  • PHP Version: 7.4 or higher
    (This is the software your web server uses. Most hosting companies already have this.)

  • WordPress Version: 5.6 or higher
    (Your website must use WordPress version 5.6 or newer.)

  • WooCommerce Version: 5.3 or higher
    (WooCommerce is the shopping part of your website. Please update it if it’s too old.)

  • Supported Browsers:
    You can use any of these browsers to manage or visit your store:

Note:

You can install this plugin in two easy ways. Choose whichever one is simple for you.

Method 1: Install from WordPress (Easy Way)

  1. Go to your website and log in to WordPress.

  2. From the left side menu, click on Plugins → Add New.

  3. In the search box, type: PSM Multi-Currency.

  4. When you see the plugin in the list, click the Install Now button.

  5. After a few seconds, click on Activate.

That’s it! The plugin is now installed and ready to use.

Method 2: Manual Installation (If you downloaded the file)

If someone gave you the plugin as a .zip file or you downloaded it yourself, follow these steps:

  1. First, download the plugin to your computer. (It should be a .zip file.)

  2. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.

  3. Click on Plugins → Add New.

  4. At the top, click the Upload Plugin button.

  5. Click on Choose File, then select the .zip file from your computer.

To get plugin updates, use premium features, and receive support, you need to enter your license key.

Step 1: Find Your License Key
  • Open the website psmplugins.com in your browser
  • Click on My Account at the top
  • Log in with your email and password if you are not already logged in
  • Click on the Purchase History –  View Details and Downloads.
  • You will see your license key there
  • Copy the license key code
Step 2: Enter the License Key in Your Website
  • Go to your WordPress website dashboard
  • Click on PSM Plugins from the left side menu
  • Then click on Multi Currency, and then License
  • Paste your license key in the box
  • Click the Activate button
  • The plugin will now check and activate your license key
If the License Does Not Activate
  • Check if the license key is correct and has no extra spaces
  • Make sure your website is connected to the internet
  • If you are using a firewall or security plugin, turn it off for a moment and try again
  • If it still does not work, contact our support team. Tell them your license key and website address

1. Enable Different Currency for Checkout

Enable this option to allow customers to complete checkout in a different currency than the one they used while browsing or adding products to their cart.

    • This feature offers flexibility by allowing you to:
      • Control which currencies are allowed at checkout
      • Configure compatible payment gateways for each checkout currency
      • Continue displaying product prices in multiple currencies while browsing
    • Once enabled, the Checkout Currency Table appears with the following columns:
      • Status – Toggle ON/OFF for each currency to enable or disable it at checkout.
      • Currency – Displays the name of each currency available for checkout.
      • Payment Methods – Allows you to select which payment gateways will be available for each active currency.
2. Display a Notice for Currency Enforcement

Enable this option to display a message on the checkout page when the selected browsing currency differs from the one used at checkout.

    • Currency enforcement may occur in the following cases:
      • The selected currency is disabled for checkout.
      • A specific currency is enforced based on the customer’s billing or shipping country.
    • You can customize the notice message using these placeholders:
      • %currency-selected% – shows the currency originally selected by the customer
      • %checkout-currency% – shows the currency used at checkout
3. Force Payment in a Specific Currency Based on Customer’s Country (Pro Feature)
Enable this feature to automatically enforce payment in a specific currency based on the customer’s billing or shipping country.
This overrides the currency selected by the customer, ensuring that checkout occurs in the currency assigned to their country.
If no specific currency is assigned to the country, the store’s default currency will be used.

Once enabled, two additional settings will appear:
      • Country to Use for Currency Enforcement
        Select the customer location to use for determining the enforced currency:
        • Billing Country: Use the customer’s billing address to determine the checkout currency. Ideal when taxes, invoicing, or compliance depend on billing location.
        • Shipping Country:
          Use the delivery destination to determine the currency. Useful for international stores setting pricing based on destination country.
          Tip: Choose the option that best fits your pricing strategy, tax rules, or payment gateway requirements.
      • Reload the Page After Currency Change
        Enable this option to automatically reload the checkout page after the currency is changed based on the customer’s country.
        This helps ensure:
        • Proper loading of payment gateways
        • Accurate recalculation of totals
        • Correct display of currency across all checkout components
        • This is particularly useful when using gateways that do not support dynamic currency changes without a page reload.

Switcher Size

Switcher Options

Currency Switcher Customisation
This section lets you customise the appearance of the currency switcher when using its shortcode. As you adjust the settings on the left, the live preview and the generated shortcode will update automatically. Once you’re satisfied with the design, simply copy and paste the shortcode into any page, post, or widget on your website.
Switcher size
This dropdown menu allows you to set the visual size of the currency switcher when it’s embedded via shortcode.
 
Click the dropdown arrow to view the available size options (e.g., Small, Medium).
 
Select your preferred size, and you’ll see the change reflected in both the live preview and the size attribute of the generated shortcode.
Switcher Display Options
These toggles allow you to control which elements are displayed in the currency switcher when using the shortcode. As you enable or disable these options, both the live preview and the generated shortcode will update in real-time.
 
Display Elements:
    • Show Flag –
      • Enabled: Displays a flag icon representing the selected currency’s country. → Adds flag=”1″ to the shortcode.
